Hosho is the name given to these traditional Zimbabwean shakers which play a central role in both traditional and contemporary music making and performance. The hosho begins its life as a pumpkin which is carefully dried and hollowed, with the inner flesh and seeds removed. After cleaning and drying, hota seeds are added and the gourd opening is closed - producing a wonderfully brilliant shaker.

Note: Each pair of hosho are unique as they are products of nature. No two pair of hosho are ever perfectly the same. The size, weight, shape, sound, and especially the fit will always vary.
